Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership.
MESA – Mr. Etson
MESA stands for Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement. It is a nationally recognized affiliation and really looks good on a college application. Students who join the club get to design, build, test, and redesign projects such as a Windmill, Mouse Trap Vehicle, Balsa wood Planes and Bridges. Then on a field trip to SDSU, you get to compete with other high schools in the San Diego area. Students receive medals for the top three winners and have the opportunity to compete with Los Angeles and Orange County high schools in the regional competition at UC Irvine. There are math competitions as well. It’s always fun and a great experience for all students win or lose. There are sign-up deadlines toward the beginning of the year.
Music Club – Mr. Etson
Music Club has two parts. One part is for beginning or intermediate guitar players. If you are committed to do the practice, you can even check out one of the ten guitars we have dedicated to the club complements of LKR (The L. Kids Rock foundation). Part 2 would be for more experienced players of guitar or other classic instruments such as bass, drums, percussion, and keyboards. We are ALWAYS looking for people who just like to sing as well. Keep on Rockin’!

Yes SCT has a great ROTC program!
do you have to “apply” to go to kearney SCT, if so when is the latest time to?
Since there are 4 academies at Kearny, yes you need to file intent to go to SCT.
Call the Office at 858-496-8370, extension 2500 or 2501 and you can get all the information.
If i want to join a club like the key club, do I need to sign up online?, if so, where?, thank you!
Usually clubs don’t get going until a few weeks into the school year, and there currently is no online sign up. If you are interested in joining Key Club, you’ll want to talk to Mrs. JJ in room 703. Also, in fall there is a Club Expo for all of Kearny so you can see all of the clubs and organizations.
